I went 5 miles today as planned. It was kind of a systems check after saturday's fiasco. I felt pretty good, my legs were kinda sore, but i slowed the pace down to 7:15 min/miles and that seemed to help. Very windy on the way back, right in my face at 30 a steady mph, that made it difficult. Other than that I think saturday gets chalked up as being colder than i expected and that cold caused my legs to cramp. It was 45 degrees, but the windchill was around 32, and yet i still wore shorts then. Should have worn tights or pants apparently and need to pay better attention to the windchill as that seems to have caused cramping in my legs.

I love that you "slowed to 7:15 min/mile" to help your achy legs... dude... If I ran 7:15 min/mile I may have a heart attack, or bust a knee cap or something. Especially for 5 miles.

I also can't imagine it being that cold... I'd be a popsicle. Perhaps that is why you run so fast, to get it over with. :o)

All in all, good workout!

Jacob - welcome to the blog!

I think with consistent training you can run the half in at least 1:12, and the full marathon under 2:30. The reason those times right now are so far away from your PRs is most likely the lack of aerobic base.

Hey thanks for the welcome! I appreciate the encouragement on those projected times, i really hope i get there someday! You're absolutely right about my lack of base, ive trained for shorter races my whole life, and have actually only run one HM, which also happens to be my longest run to date. I look forward to building mileage though as i too think I have big room for improvement at the longer distances!
